I have 4 or 5 of these with different variations of this error. What type of error is this? Thanks for any help.
Looks like a die crack. Very common but neat to find. Can you post photos of all of them to show the progression in the crack. Thank you. Welcome to CT.
Yeah. I got to find them all. I was finding them so often, I quit looking at them so I only took pictures of this one a while ago
Somehow I posted 9 pictures but only had 7 quarters out. I'm not sure how that worked out. So there's something up there twice lol. There was one or 2 that looked like damage, not the cracked die. I'll let someone that knows more than me tell me what they think. Thanks
There is one in there with no damage. That one is more rare than the damaged one. And these are just the ones I knew exactly where they were. I'm sure I have a bunch more. I have hundreds of dollars in quarters around here.
Die cracks are common and don't bring any extra money but when you find them it's neat to keep them. It's better when you can show a progression as the crack develops and grows. Thanks for the additional photos.
They're not even all from the same mint, about half and half from Philadelphia and Denver. Apparently they were having problems with this one
Just tired dies and the design is flawed in that area, maybe I should say weak. You can still see the progression of the growing crack from both mints.
