I want to double check on a 2017 quarter I found a few years back. it looks like doubling on the lips? any thoughts? Thanks.
this is why i barely come on this site. the sarcasm is unnecessary. FUN FACT: THE TIMES YOU SO CALLED COIN EXPERTS WERE WRONG. I Found a gold coin and people messaged me said it was fake, its counterfeit ended up being real and sold to a collector on this site. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1854-fived-coin.244755/ I found a 1981P Rim Restriction Design duplication No its die distortion. its this its that mind you these experts hate when they are wrong. which they often are. and yeah it was a (RARE) error. mind you I found 2 of them to date but read for yourself. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/die-struck-letters-on-rim-of-coin-are-mistake.html should I stop here or keep going????? how about the 2000 quarter which you guy told me was PMD which seem to you guys favorite phrase. and i quote "ITS ABSOLUTELY PMD" WRONG AGAIN. its called a split die which is extremely rare. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/is-this-a-strike-on-this-2000-quarter.362112/#post-4619289 https://parrisislandmuseum.com/2000-p-sacagawea-dollar-value-p-mint-mark/ and i can keep going TRUST ME. If you are new to coin collecting dont take nothing you hear on here as the final word cause as you see these EXPERTS are sometimes wrong and rather admit it they stoop to a childs level with the insults. They also hate cherry pickers who find things that they wish they found. also one of the 1992 close am's that were sold I found one of those too. It’s still just mechanical doubling. Checked the first link you provided. People told you it was real from the get go. Second link, are you Darren? If so congrats, that was two great finds. For the third link, one of the people who responded that it was pmd was Fred Weinberg, one of the foremost error collectors and experts around. Could he be mistaken, sure. Have you provided ANY evidence he is? No. Your 4th link provides a list of errors. You show nothing to lead us to believe you have one. In fact in your 3rd link you seem to accept that you have a damaged coin. There’s a lot of experienced collectors posting at this site. Listen, learn. I found a coin years ago I thought was a doubled die. I did my homework and found out it was just MD. I was a little disappointed, but it was also nice knowing what I had really found. ** Yes, I realize he has most likely stomped off forever, but I wanted to post this just in case…
It’s difficult to look at photos and be accurate. It’s much easier in hand. We give our opinions based on photos we didn’t take and gave our honest answers. We are human and we make mistakes. That said, it looks like MD to me.
I am surprised the half dollar die is not sufficiently defaced to keep some unscrupulous person from "minting" what could be passed off as a double strike.
Hey. I’m always wrong. I’d surely be the first to admit it. Remember these member can only be somewhat right when they take a shot at a difficult coin
