I have this 2017 Ellis Island State Quarter.. I have found numerous errors on this coin.. Can I have some help on figuring out what caused all of these marks...It looks as if the man is smoking a pipe..Tell me your thoughts and who can I send this to, to check it out and grade it?? If you need more pictures, please let me know...Thanks
Sorry... no lottery winnings here . Just a lot of damage or DEDAM - definitely damaged . Someone could of done that on purpose for all we know .
Ok thank you. I haven't learned all of the different definitions, so didn't know what to think or call it...
It looks like ordinary circulation damage to me. It will take some time for your "Eagle Eye" to develop an understanding of the minting process so you can spot the true Mint Errors. As for submitting a coin like this for grading, it would be a waste of money. The coin would have to grade about MS68 to make it worthwhile, and this coin won't even come close. ~Chris
Welcome to CT. Agree with others' opinion that the coin simply has circulation marks on it. Not mint error.
First, welcome to CT. The coin is PMD (Post Mint Damage) thank you for posting it. Better luck next time. Be safe
The Ellis Island is my favorite coin. I have two of the large "puck" Ellis Island. It's special because my grandfather went through Ellis Island with his mother and 6 siblings. He was sick and was on hold until he got better. I have wonderful pictures of it. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome to CT. It helps members here when you specify what YOU see that you believe is an error. What I see is a circulated quarter worth 25¢. Good luck on the learning curve.
Thank you guys for helping spot the difference between mint marks and damage marks... like I said I'm new here and new to the collecting...
