I keep seeing the commercial for the $50 gold buffalo tribute proof being sold for $10 claiming it is solid 24-karat gold, how much does this coin weigh?! Wouldn't that be thousands of dollars of gold for just $10?? I collect junk silver for its silver content as an investment, is this too good to be true or is it a killer investment? What am I not catching onto here haha ~Thanks
isn't it clad is like 14 milligrams of pure .999 gold? like a whopping $0.60 worth? gold's gone up since I last did the equation...it might be $0.62 instead..
If you listen carefully you will probably hear them say the coin they are copying is 0.9999 gold but their copy is plated with 24-k gold. This "Tribute Coin" is not something you should buy. Forget it.
Every time I see this I shout at the TV "REALLY? I can get $1 in gold and $0.03 in base metal for $10???!" not worth the phone call IMO
I believe it's 14 milligrams... and based off $1570.90/oz for gold... 14 milligrams of gold is $0.707 or rounded up $0.71!!! you better believe they won't give you that extra 10 milligrams... I mean that's like a whole $0.505!!!! which would bring the gold cost for these to....'tries catching breath' A WHOPPING $1.21!!!!! of course when gold goes up to $22,197/oz...your 14 milligrams of gold will be worth the $9.99 you originally paid for the coin!
What probably gets some people is that they start the commercial showing and talking about the actual $50 pure gold piece and only later talk about the copy. Not false advertising but it sure is close.
It's known as a "tribute coin". They are paying tribute to the Buffalo by producing a worthless copy. The commercial is pretty deceptive as it's designed to make one think they are getting something valuable based on the value of the real Buffalo.
Very tiny. If you had a 14 mg nugget of 24KT gold it would take 2,220 of them to make that 1 oz gold buffalo
Thanks Holy crap! This is a VERY active forum I think I may have found a new home lol Thanks everyone I really appreciate it. I buy up junk silver every time I see someone flash it, I'll pay a friend spot silver price for something like a simple silver dime or quarter because I am worried about the US dollar collapsing on me I'm only 21 so I am constantly adding to my weight in silver on hand. It's all in a safe with paperwork I printed up and laminated, each document has two large resolution photos of the coin with all the info below it including total weight, silver weight, composition and other formulas for translating the silver value. This way I can back up each coins value when the day comes I need to trade them for food to someone who knows nothing about this type of "stuff" haha (this is after the economy completely collapses during our next great depression)...you never know!
This "tribute" coin may look like the real thing (to some) but inside they are completely different. Similarly a chocolate coin wrapped in gold foil may look like a real gold coin (to some people anyway).
