I just found this quarter in my change. The reverse is all there, but the obverse is missing almost all the lettering and the mint mark. Would this coin have left the mint like this or is it PMD
Is there any way to tell the difference between a capped die and a struck through grease coin? Thanks.
It's a struck through compacted grease. The Reverse was struck with a newer Die. Some of the letters and George are a bit to sharp to be a struck through Capped Die.
The rim on the obverse is a strong indication it is a greaser @Vessel92 contact me if you'd like to know more
