I have a 2007 virgin islands quarter that shows the island in large detail. Has no ridges, and is missing in god we trust on it. Also sounds different. Maybe silver. Any Ideas about it.
Welcome to CT! Please post a pic. The U.S. Virgin Islands quarter was released in 2009 not 2007 so maybe you have some sort of prototype or perhaps a private mint issued bullion coin. TC
Crop out all the other stuff and just post the picture of the coin please. I can't see at all what kind of coin that is. It could be a Chuck E. Cheese token for all I can tell.
The official currency of the US Virgin Islands is the US Dollar, so they wouldn't be making their own coins. The coin on the right looks like it might be a trial design of some kind put out by a private mint. Or it could be just a fantasy piece.
The one missing details is not a US quarter, note: No US coin has "God Bless America" on it. A fantasy 'coin' value? Nothing, except on eBay
No idea where they are from, but there is a similar piece with a Guam "theme": http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces65294.html Also see this topic - apparently there are quite a few ... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/07-virgin-islands-quarter.268967/ Christian
Back before the Territories quarters came out there was a private mint that produced fantasy pieces of their own designs. Usually they overstruck these of US quarters. The also made some fantasy/parody US State quarters as well, most famous being the Arkansas quarter. (Sorry no pictures, family forum)
If you look on the front of the 2007 Virgin Islands quarter, in the hair of George Washington, it's says, "copy" IRS written sideways, turn quarter so "United States" is at the top and look below it in the hair, not sure who made it or if there's value but I found one, smooth edge and a little bigger in circumference then a real quarter.
