I have a really weird Dime that I have no idea what is the matter with it. First let me apologize for the pictures it is impossible to capture the error. The Obverse is unaffected but the reverse has a rough raised crack running from O in of down to the O in ONE. It looks like a rift from the rim and one side appears to be thicker than the other. This is the only picture. Thanks, Henry
Me too. Although the mint does not consider them errors there are some that do. I'd hang onto one with that large of a crack/break.
Very nice die crack with die chipping along the crack. If the purists would allow us to use the word "cud" for something that didn't include the rim, I would call that large section missing there above the PL an internal cud.
Nice die crack. Rim to rim die cracks carry a small premium. If you can find the right collector you could get $2-$4 for it...
It's an asymmetrical split die straddled by a retained interior die break and several die chips. I have a dime struck by this die pair. A very neat error. Rather than the $4 mentioned by "Abe", it's worth between $80 and $120.
Very nice, planchet error or die crack. My guess on the amount is $50 to $70, I wonder why copper doesn't come through?
Why would you see copper anywhere else? It was the DIE that cracked/split not the planchet. That is like asking "Why don't you see copper on the devices of a regular coin?".
hey, I thought I was seeing things when I found this coin at work, I'm glad to know it is worth a little something. This is my first day on this site, I have been fascinated with all types of coins since I found my first wheat penny. If any one has more detailed info on this coin let me know!
