Nothing super extreme, but I found a die crack on Washington's neck and I wanted to share with the group. I found this sorting coins before moving from the "inspection jar" to the "spending jar"
The base of Washington's neck is the most common place where you'll find cracks on the obverse. Chris
The coolest die crack I've ever found was actually a progression of 6 - 1999P GA SQ's that came from a $25 Mint bag. The break started at the base of the neck near the designer's initials and extended all the way to the left. Then, on subsequent coins, the crack extended further toward the "U" of QUARTER and the "R" of DOLLAR, and finally, all the way to the rim at about 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock. I knew this was a progression that came from the same die because all of the coins had the same kidney-shaped die gouge in the middle of Washington's neck. Chris
Here's a similar 2000-P Quarter (Maryland) Die Clack. One "guaranteed" way for me to know I have a common error coin.................is if I find it!
