The scans are below. I also have listed all the information you could want about the note listed below. Serial #: KB 48795712 A Federal Reserve Bank: B2-New York, NY Printing Facility: Washington, D.C. Printing month, year: March, 2011 Run#: 2 of New York Series: 2006A Condition: I am not to be in any way confused or misinterpreted as a professional grader, although I would say this note looks like the upper end of XF+ to the lower end of AU. Please do not quote me on it. Go ahead and make an offer if your interested. Or at least please let me know the value of the note. Comments and differentialities in the info I provided are also highly welcome. View attachment 134707 View attachment 134708 What's interesting about this series are several aspects: 1. It was a last-minute unplanned series, totally unexpected due to printing issues with the new redesigned colorized Series 2009 $100's, the feds needed more $100's in the US while they fix up issues with the colorized $100's. 2. It used up the prefix block letter 'K' which obviously comes after 'J' and 'J' is used on series 2009. 3. The series began production with little or no time gaps between the regular 2006 series. The last run of the regular 2006 series was the first month of run these 2006A started being printed. 4. This one would have to be the most interesting aspect of them all. The signatures. They used the same signatures on this 2006A $100 as they did on the series 2006's. This has never been done before in history of US currency, and if it has please correct me. 5. It will be the last series produced of the post-1996 design $100's, and it is a small series.
Steve- You should be able to click on either '134707' for the front or '134708' for the back. Let me try to find out if I can fly a different way of posting the pictures, but I am new to this site so please give me a little time. Reguardless of the pictures, do you have any general idea for pricing on these notes? Thank you Steve! Travis...
I don't think #2 is really unusual. They also used prefix 'F' on 2003A after they'd used 'E' on 2004. It looks like the prefix letters are going to work this way every time we have an 'A' series from now on. As to #5, if the BEP doesn't get their Kodachrome $100 act together soon, the 2006A series may not be terribly short after all. At the rate they're going now, in just another month or two the 2006A $100's will surpass the production total of the 1999 $100's.... It *is* quite strange to see Series 2006 and Series 2006A having no real differences between them; and the reason why Series 2006A exists at all will make a good story to tell future collectors in a few decades. But I doubt that any of that will increase the collector value of the 2006A $100's at all. For the (few) people who collect $100's by series, this is just one more series to check off.
So I guess what I gather from that post, you are saying that I would need to find the right buyer, specifically a $100 series collector? I also wouldn't be able to sell it along with any premiums right now? One of my buddies I've been trading with for a while now, had another buddy that had some consecs of Chicago and they sold like hot cakes for high prices. I never did quite get the prices from him, I'll have to go ask and see what they sold for. I am olso quite interested to find out if they sold together, or separately. Will find out and keep you guys posted.
Tbidwiser, If you do , post it in the buy/sell forum rather than on this thread/subforum, as soliciting sales/bids is not allowed outside of that sub-forum. Welcome to Cointalk! Jim
I am unable to seem to find that forum. How can I find it? Plus, I am not necessarily looking to sell it for sure, I am just wondering what people are willing to pay for it mainly. If it even has any premiums, I know that people are willing to purchase them, but I do not know for this condition or Federal Reserve Bank. But hey guys I am going to be posting an error note post to ask about some possible error notes I have, that I am not totally sure about. If any of you guys happen to know anything about error notes, please check out my other post any help me out. I don't know much about errors.
I still don't know why 2006A was created at all, when I first heard that this series was being produced I expected the signatures to be with that of the current Secretary and Treasurer and not Bush appointees who are long gone. The only reason that I can come up with is that the BEP was afraid of running out of block letters for district B but in times past they would have simply compensated by printing notes for another district in their place as was seen with 1995 $1 series. If anyone has an explanation or theory I'd love to hear about it.
Click on "Forums" in the blue menu bar above ( next to "HOME") and go down to the "Advertising" menu, and the "For Sale" sub-forum. Jim
I heard somewhere that the BEP announced that the 2006A was going to be with the newer signatures, and then when people noticed them in circulation, they had the old signatures. At first people thought it was a huge error, but as time past all the 2006A $100's had those signatures. I haven't been successful in finding any follow up information on it to see if the BEP was reached for comment on why they used the old signatures. If anyone on here has heard any kind of follow up on please let us know.
Hey Jim, I am apparently too new to this site, I just started like this week. When I have got enough posts or likes or something like that, I will be able to access that part of this website, but still thank you for the info! Travis...
Travis, you should be able to access it with 10 posts. You can post to it once every 7 days ( more details in the "RULES", the 2nd subforum ), supporters can post more often. Jim
Your $100 is a nice find. I've only found one in circulation here in Denver but they are more prevalent right now in Florida and Las Vegas from what I've read on several forums. As of yesterday, only 1639 had been entered on WheresGeorge.com. Over the past ten days, the WheresGeorge site has averaged 54,600 bills entered per day. So let's just round that down to 54,000 since the numbers have been trending up. The first 2006a $100 spotted and entered by a WG player was in April I believe. That means that approximately 5.94 million bills have been entered, with only 1639 of them being 2006a $100's, or about .028%. So they are pretty hard to find as of this posting. Doug
Interesting info... I am torn between spending it or saving/selling it because I have one person on here saying that in just a few months all the 2006A $100 will surpass all the 1999 $100's and then you are saying that. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the Feds do. Or they going to print more or are they going to resume printing with the new colorized '09s.
