Signed up so I could post this and figure out what sort of find I have on my hands. I received this out of an ATM yesterday, and it looks like another print is superimposed over the regular bill, but extremely enlarged and sideways or something. Also appears in part on the back, but on the opposite side. I thought at first that this might just be someone having printed something on it, but it looks like proper ink, and the appearance of it looks authentic enough. I know little to nothing about bills and values of misprints, so any help is much appreciated.
first off welcome to CT. from my experience i would say that note has been through the wash. i have seen countless notes like that. you would be suprised what happens to ink while going through the wash. it might have been together with another note which led to the ink transfer pattern.:thumb:
1st Welcome To Cointalk:thumb: I think? UC maybe right,as I more of a coin person! but if not I sure one of the note experts will post something
Now that I look at how the pattern is also on the other side of the bill, it looks like it happened while it was folded in half, which I don't suppose would have happened in the printing process, so maybe that's it. Just seems weird for it to come out like that just being washed. Haven't seen that before. Will check back for other posts, but I'm guessing that is probably right.
i worked as a bank telkler for many years and have seen hundreds of notes like that. you would be quite suprised what a good washing can do to notes. i have pretty much seen it all
Oh well, weird anyway. Now I just have to find the penny I have somewhere that I believe is missing its copper clad. Not sure where it is, though...
not quite as bad as the powerball ticket I washed Sunday........sad thing is, it was for Saturday nights drawing and someone won the $115mil........
