Hi, I purchased two 2004 panda from ebay from two different seller. The interesting thing is that the OMP looks different even thought they
are both from shenzhen (guobao) mint. Any idea which one is fake? Back.jpg Front.jpg

i think the one on the left is fake. Is either coin noticeably thicker? If so, that may be another indicator. Also, you could try weighing them. Is it in the plastic flip? Should weigh 38-39 grams. Unless it's thicker to offset the ligher weight of the base metal, the fake would probably be underweight by mabe 5 grams.

I also think the one on the left is fake as the 'shen zhen guobao mint' printed on the plastic wrap is different from other year panda coins.
They both weight 38-39g and I can not tell the thickness without open the OMP. I guess I am going to return it to seller.

yeah, nowadays a lot of the fakes are in some sort of plastic holder. It makes it a lot more difficult to spot the fake just by casual observation. If it's in plastic OMP, it's even harder since many don't want to cut it open.

You mean 2005, I'm guessing. Check out this guys website he has pics of all years for people to check out. The OMP will not tell you much because the coins are distributed so many different ways and by different companies. Even though they are minted at the same place they are distributed differently than the US. good luck!

Is it the plastic or is that a bump on the mama bears head? (left coin) It appears that there are tiny bumps on the other side as well. If that`s not the plastic I`d say that`s the fake.

You are right. I meant 2005. But the website does not have any fake coin picture for 2004 or 2005.

Keep in there are even fakes' out there that you can't distinguish from the real deal unlike gold or platinum silver is not dense metal (using copper-lead alloy with silver plating you can get metal density similar to silver). There are videos of those 2 oz fake coins in Youtube, they cut those coins in half to show they were fake but i heard magnetic slide technique can spot those fakes'.
