    hi all
I am new to this group. I wondered if this 2004 penny might be valuable: error seems to be long “y” on Liberty; streak marks on face; smudge on word “one” on back. Any thoughts? Thank you

The Y just has a nick in it probably from a stone or something strong. The streaks on his face are most likely scratches. I think the smudge is a struck through or grease filled die error. That is when something gets in the way of the die (struck through) or the die is blocked up with grease in that area (grease filled die). Hope that helped!

Welcome to Coin Talk Jenny. Stick around and you'll learn a lot from the members here. I know I have. Your cent is what we call PMD, or Post Mint Damage, meaning it was damaged after it left the mint, so not an error or worth more than 1¢.

I have a 2004 penny. There is a mark where the mint mark should be. It's not dirt. It looks like it was part of the mark. Is it worth anything?

Sounds like damage. Worth 1 Cent.
