Found this very weak strike of "E Pluribus Unum" on a 2002 D Ohio quarter. Is this fairly common, and would it have any value?
Anything on the front of the coin usually on the obverse there might be like a impression exactly where that is but on the other side check it out
Hello, Welcome to CoinTalk Late night! We ask to generally to see the whole coin please. It could just be a worn Quarter but hard to tell otherwise. It is 22 years old approximately. Thanks.
Don't see anything of note on the obverse. So, safe to say this isn't even worth setting aside, I'm guessing? Thanks for the reply.
you got money there for sure off center valuble specially on a quarter I think you got two options on that one struck on a ovals planchet like out of round and you got it off center strike also check the weight of that quarter it could be struck on a wrong planchet 5.67 grams is corrrct weight
When you flip it over also check to see the alignment it should be exactly top to bottom when you flip it over that's valuable also and they had a lot of those on the state quarters
Also when you post pictures always the obverse and the reverse the front and the back always I'm glad you showed that but good luck
How long ago did you find it? With the full images it looks like created from a worn die coupled with 22 years of circulation wear, minus the time you’ve had it…very common and just face value. …it’s a spender…imo…Spark
Wow, I didn't even notice that it was off center. Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I'm a complete newbie to all of this. Coin is 5.65 grams, so I'm guessing the weight is fine. Thanks again!
Your coin is not considered an Off-Center Strike, some of the design has to be missing from the coin to be an Off-Center Strike. It is an Mis-Aligned die strike, and it is Struck Through Debris. Both very common and considered minor errors with no value added. IMO.
Hi @Intaglio31, what your seeing on your coin may be a slight strike through, but it is very worn as well. Strike through grease coins are only worth more than face value if they are very significant. Also your coin is a Misaligned Die Strike, not an off center as @alurid pointed out. Welcome to CT by the way.
