2001 D Rhode Island Quarter striations

    This quarter has lines across the front, and an overall dark appearance, especially compared to other quarters of the same year and state. Any idea why this is? Should I bother hanging onto this coin?

    Looks like Environmental Toning.. The lines could be that tape was on it at one time.

    Yes, environmental damage to the surfaces,
    after the coin was released into circulation.
