1999 P Connecticut state quarter possible errors

Hello. I am new here, but read threads often.

I work in a retail store and I am at the register a lot. I've come across some pretty interesting coins. My latest find is probably the weirdest. Someone brought in a roll of quarters to pay for a pack of cigarettes. My co-worker needed the change right away so she cracked it open. All that fell out were 1999 P Connecticut state quarters...all of which appeared to be stamped very oddly. Some appeared off center slightly and some appeared to have a very deep stamp. The ridge along the outer edge rises very high above the image and in some of the coins, the ridge is on an angle and rounded off (hard to explain). On the upper left portion of most of the ones I got, looks to be double stamped? You can see in the pictures (which aren't the best) where that portion of the edge has almost a jagged edge to it. I picked out all the ones I thought might have been the best as I didn't have $10 at the time to buy them all! I have enclosed photos, but I will have to wait until later to get better ones. (Note: my camera appears to make them have a goldish tint. They are regular colored so far as I can see). If you need anymore info from me, I will do my best to provide.

Sorry but I'm just not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

I know the pictures don't do justice. I will have a better camera and pictures tomorrow. I found a similar discussion on this state coin: http://www.cointalk.com/threads/1999-p-connecticut-state-quarter-errors.192751/

Only difference with mine, I can't seem to tell if any of the lettering is doubled, the double stamp appearance appears on the same upper left edge. They are all slightly off center and the outer 'ridge' if you will looks entirely too high...almost as if it wasn't rounded or something.

I added some arrows to give a better idea. The top left one has what appears to be the weird or 'extra' edge.

What you've highlighted is not considered a "double stamp". Come to think of it, business strike coins all receive a singe blow from the coining press and while coins which have received multiple stamps do exist, your's do not display what would be considered a double stamping.

Your coins appear to be nothing more than struck from a deteriorated die which can cause such illusions.

I agree with jay that four of these coins in the last photo are from a collar clash , these four appears to have identical clashes and are mostlikely from the same die.

I will still get them looked at. But I find it a bit odd that these coins, all in same roll and all same year and condition (look like they never left the roll until that day I found them), to be a deteriorated die. Not saying anyone is wrong, but seems to be the run of the mill explanation around here.

the reason that you were able to get some coins struck by the same die is because the coins were found in the same roll and this kept them together . your coins are error coins and they show a collar clash like jay and me said. I don't think they would have much value but maybe worth a little more since they were struck by the same die.

Wow great explanation. The second photos helped a lot more. I would agree with collar clash, not uncommon, but a very nice find!
