I found this 1999 D is it doubling is it worth anything it’s off center too and in the back looks like the president has a visitor
I found this 1999 D is it doubling is it worth anything and it’s off center too and in the back looks bubbling
The 'doubling' on the date looks like it may be the effect of zinc plating issues. Wait for others to opine.
Look up Split plate doubling. It is a form of die deterioration. https://www.error-ref.com/ Well done @LaCointessa
A worn die caused what you see. However it is a MAD, misaligned die. Not worth any extra but nice to have. It is a plating issue like LaCointessa said.
Die Deterioration doubling, misaligned die strike and plating bubbles.. No premium for those 3 issues. Your Penny is worth 1 Cent.
Nooooooooo! These newbies should be concerned more about what they have. Value should be asked after they have learned.
It's a far-apart D. There are lots of them. They're caused by the strike into the plated planchet, and for that reason, they're not worth nothing to nobody. Or call it anything to anybody, take your pick.
Good advice, learn about the minting process and what causes the errors first. It will go a long way and make your searching much more easier!
