heres the link to lincoln cent resource http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1997ddo.html
yes, thats why their called images, different angles, show different images, but yes , all same images, the first one is copied as close as I could get to the one posted on the link
Yes, I know the definition of images. You have posted images of your coins before along with images from other sites, such as Lincoln Resource to illustrate what you are trying to show us. I wasn't sure if that was the case again.
I'm glad you posted this Rick. The images you provided shows a slightly smaller "doubled ear". I have been thinking about this for some time. I believe this "variety" is an unbelievably well placed die chip. The coin you posted could back up this theory. It looks like, to me, you have an earlier die state (before the "doubled ear" was fully formed). I may be off base here. Just thinking out loud. Can't wait to see what the experts say. Nice coin, by the way!
I thought at first it was a doubled ear also. but after doing a side by side it is not a doubled ear.
I wouldn't compare images, they are not taken from the same equipment, and the angle of my is more turned to the right too
Thanks for the images coop. I retract my first statement. The original lobe on Ricks coin isn't as long as the doubled ear coin.
I'm going to shut some of the markers on coppercoins site, I know I can photo inside the " R " of AMERICA
Again, just a image of the obverse portrait, with different eqiupment, I'm here to work with you, I took some images of the Date, R in America, can see something is going on there, ran out of light on the rest, but will post what images I did take heres coppercoins site http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1997&die_id=1997p1do001&die_state=mds thats where the images were matched, theres also nice polishing done to die in the motto " GOD WE "
Just a word of advice, Rick. You can take coop seriously. If you have noticed on some of the images on coppercoins, it says at the bottom, image provided by Richard Cooper, that is coop. He's not just some "know it all". He, pretty much, "knows almost it all". LOL! Just wanted to let you know he isn't trying to lead you astray.
Markers only mean something if the hub doubling is present. If the hub doubling is not present, then it can't be from the same die.
I know, but Bob Piazza took the double ear, and Coop chart is way off, ears are noway near level, I still think its a double ear, myself, I will show it to Mr. Potter at the next coin show, we have a lot of them in Michigan, its all in fun, thats for sure
I only have one question, everybody says your good at what you do, and I agree, but what were you thinking with that homemade chart
C'mon Rick. I don't care who took the images. That's like saying, "Fred Weinberg took the images of that error, so Mike Diamond doesn't know if this is it or not." Or even better, "Coop took these so Bob doesn't know." I'm talking about a level of expertise on a subject. As for coop, that level is high. The "homemade chart" looks spot on to me. Notice the other pieces of hair on the back of the head. It's not the same.
