    It could be gold-plated, or stained, or environmentally damaged. Can you show pictures of it next to a normal-colored quarter? (It's always hard to judge colors from photos, because lighting and camera settings can play all sorts of tricks.)

    It doesn't look very gold colored to me, but coins do tone gold, champagne, etc. See my avatar. :D

    It's a gold plated novelty item.

    Hundreds of thousands of them have
    been gold plated over the decades.

    Not an error of any kind, I'm sorry to say.

    Spender I have another ? For you. What the easiest way to tell between die clash and a double strike and a double denomation coin

    vendors still gold plate coins today ... just look up merrickmint.com
    though it may make your eyes bleed ...

    it's essentially damage, sold as novelty. sooner or later the novelty wears off and it ends up back in circulation. I'm waiting for those ruthenium ones to show up in circulation and on CT.

    Those are 3 different issues that occur 3 different ways. Just start a new thread with pictures if you think you may have such errors.

    @Brad Adams

    Just keep in mind that most of the issues you will find on most coins in circulation are alterations, environmental damage and circulation wear and tear. Don't assume that something strange is automatically a mint error. That's a mistake new collectors do. Post pictures and allow us to determine what you have.

    I would sure be interested I think I have some double denomation coins my grandfather was a error coin collector and I didn't know what he had until he died he had a bunch of old coins from the 1800 and early 1900 and alot of bank rolls from the 1910 to probably the 1970s probably had a 40000 coin collection that no one knew about till he died u found the letter and the coins... So I would be very interested in any info you have I'm kinda new at this bit I thought it was worth looking in too...

    That means you're not sure about them. Also keep in mind that people collected what they thought were errors when indeed they were not :(

    Post each coin 1 at a time with pictures. Separate threads is what we prefer.
