I got this coin when i was in about the 5th grade, its been sitting in my safe along with the rest of my coins. Recently i got them back out (its been about 10 years) and im wondering is this just a really nice 1995 penny, or was tehre really such a thing as a reverse dle die?

ive attached a picture, not sure it its high enough quality, ill try to get a better quality one. I didnt have a magnifying glass to check yet, but i think i remember them saying something about the one cent words being doubled.

Let me know what you guys think

    1995................................

i've heard of the 1995 doubled die obverse lincoln cent but not the doubled reverse. there could be such a thing, but i'm not aware of one. where did you see this? is it possible to get a nice closeup of the coin for us?

Im pretty sure this coin came as a "gift" when i bought like 10 rolls of 1995 coins back in the day. I only have a 5MP camera at my place but ill stop by the parents and borrow the 10mp and see if i can get a better picture

I never heard of a doubled die reverse for the 1995 P cent. I'm not sure but on the picture there seems to be an additional column on the left side of the memorial. A closer picture would help.

    Most likely strike doubling.

    Is the doubling 'shelf like'?

Agree, if it were die doubling it would be identical on a series of coins (until noticed and the die changed) and be a well know and documented variety.

What you have is most likely an error coin and not a variety.

probably, i dont think its worth anything, i was just wondering if laying in the bottom of the safe is ok, or if i should take better care of it lol

Cneca does not list a DDR for either 1995 or 95-D n the Lincoln cents

Hard to tell from the picture, but I did notice something else not mentioned -is it a possible "Die Rotation Error" , as the coin is not lined up properly in the holder?

Again- hard to tell from the picture.

    6-yr old found this coin

In 1995, my 6 year old son & I used to search through bank rolls. One evening, he found a brand new 1995 cent with doubling on the reverse. Error Trends evaluated it & then sent it to other doubled die experts. The final verdict was that our coin had simple machine ejection doubling. Here is the photo from the article in Error Trends.

I have not yet seen a 1995 DDR listed. I'll have to check out the link supplied by Jello.

    Very best regards,

Welp got the camera figured out and and i think i finally got a couple really good pictures of this thing.

I have attached two. in the zoomed in one if you look at the O in one and the C and N in cent you can see the double

Hi Recklessop, and if I haven't greeted you, Welcome!

It looks like machine doubling with the flattened secondary image. Glad you are looking so carefully, we never know what will pop up. The coin looks like a nice one.

I can remember back in 95, people were searching bags like crazy looking for the DDO. Near the end something came out about the DDR. I'm thinking even Coin World had something on it.
I bought 2 bags and gave up after half of the first bag. Still have a bag and a half I never searched. Maybe some day.

It's still a unique high graded cent and should be worth a little more that book value. zg
