I'm not sure about this coin.. It is a dark color, almost black. It has not been burnt or anything, it's the color of the metal. The penny weighs 2.45 I am thinking it might be struck on a dime planchet. I took a pic of it beside a 95 Lincoln cent to show the difference in the color. 20180730_173230.jpg 20180730_173258.jpg 20180730_173303.jpg 20180730_173801.jpg 20180730_173816.jpg 20180730_173242.jpg 20180730_173320.jpg 20180730_173314.jpg What do you think?

I'm thinking environmental damage. Explains the color and loss of weight.

Yes to Environmental Damage. If it were struck on a Dime Planchet it would be Clad over copper core and smaller in diameter.

    Environmental damage. Nothing more.

BTW: You may want to look up the weight of a dime planchet

And the weight is still within spec for a Zincoln cent.
