I have this penny and it seems to have a lot of little blobs all over it. Can anyone tell me what this is or why it is there?

Gas bubbles. Once those pop, your poor coin will die a quick death from zinc rot.

Your Cent is struck on a Copper Plated Zinc Planchet. As stated it has plating bubbles.
    Really nothing major.

Rare errors is something we rarely see on CoinTalk. Unless it's something someone purchased that's certified. In the raw and from circulation it's a bit harder to find.

But. It's great that you ask. It's the best way for you to learn the differences. Keep searching. Once in a Blue Moon someone might find something great. Could be you ;)

When you say quick do you mean within a year's time or what?

Common plating bubbles. The coin is Zinc with a very thin copper coating. Not an error. Welcome to CT.

It depends on the environment it's found in.
Out in the open it is fine. Stored in a jar or container is fine. But exposed to the environment will cause the zinc rot.

They are few and far between. You are more apt to find quarters with die chips and cracks in your pocket change.

These do look more like solid corrosion domes (zinc rot) rather than hollow plating blisters.
