I have a circulated $20 star note from 1990. Ive done some research and saw that there was 3,200,000 A series bills printed. I have bill in very good condition with a number of: A 00000305 *. Ive learned that any bill under 000_999 may be something of value. Can anyone give me some insight on this bill?

    Thanks

Sounds like a nice note. Posting pics of it's condition will help determine the value. Also, maybe a mod can move this to the Paper Money forum?

You will get a small premium on ebay but I would not bet on much. Small head and decent condition help! A lot would depend on your ebay history and auction photos and setup. You might find a member here that collects notes from Boston.?.

    Good Luck!

He'd definetly get more than a small premium especially since its a star note. Id value it at mabey at $100 to $200

Let me check my book for approximate value based on grade and then we can go from there. What condition would you think the note is in? Any major issues other than the teller ink on the top of the note? Folds (light or heavy), creases, marks, etc? If you take the note in your fingers and lightly shake it by your ear, does it sound very crispy, slightly crispy, or no crisp at all? These would be indicators of the condition of the note.

    condition

I would say it's in good condition. It still has a crisp to it, still pretty dense, it was folded down the center but crease is very light. I've got it pressed bewteen 10lbs of office paper. For a 15yr old circulated bill I was impressed with its physical condition. The man that gave it to me is 78yrs old so as far as I know it could have been in his wall somewhere for the past 10years. The ink marks at the top are pretty small compared to others I've seen.I am interested in selling it

So the fold down the center is the only fold or crease you see? Make sure you hold it up to a bright light to notice any small creases or handling marks.

Thank you for the correction, :thumb: that's what I get for skimming and making assumptions. Totally missed the star and just focused on the low number.

Your note would note grade high enough for Ch Cu, so it would fall between XF and possibly AU based on a grading service's estimate. With that in mind, the Boston star is worth between $35-$55 for being a star alone.

I don't collect fancy serials, so I don't know how much of a premium that would bring, but I've seen low serial stars on Heritage go for around $80. I'd feel comfortable using that as the ballpark figure.
