I found this 1989 p dime it looks really odd to me ... Is this possible to come out of the mint like this or is it a real good damaged coin....... Need help from the experts on this
No need for experts when you have guys like me. Your coin is Mutilated in every way and Considered Post Mint Damage.
Ok ty......I have one more question I have a 1982 sd zinc penny with no Lincoln in memorial would it have a premium value
Take a good picture. "Tip if your using your phone try out Cozy Magnifier, premium is cheap and works even better with a clip on magnifier."
My favorite cointalk quote for coins like this... "I think you should shoot it and put it out of it's misery." ~Chris (@cpm9ball) https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1982-d-small-date-copper-penny.379762/#post-7490298
Could be. It looks just like a quarter my grandfather pulled out of the garbage disposal back in the mid 70's when I was a little kid. After pulling it out and showing everyone (including me) what was causing the issue with the garbage disposal, he took the quarter and pounded it flat with a hammer, hoping that it might work again in a coin machine. That's what this dime looks like. It was severely damaged and then pounded back into it's "almost" original shape.
If it is mangled it's a heck of a coincidence because the "damage" around the rim is in the same shape on mine.
can you show a picture of your entire coin (not a cropped off various edges version) both front and back ? lawn mower damage, garbage disposal damage ... that all varies. Drop 20 dimes in the garbage disposal and try ... they'll all have varying damage. Of course, you could ask "how long" in the garbage disposal ... I guess it totally varies dependent upon the amount of damage you want.
Your coin is also damaged. If you go back and compare your coin to the OP, you'll see that the damage to your coin is in different areas and to a different degree. Both coins were damaged by something squeezing the edges. It could not have occurred in the minting process because coins are struck in a collar. Error coins struck without a collar (broadstruck) or on imcomplete planchets do not look anything like yours.
It’s impossible for a coin to leave the mint looking like that. That is all damaged after leaving the mint looking like this. I used a photo that I had. Yes coins that are errors leave the mint all the time but they look nothing like yours.
