1988 D Quarter/Dark Brownish RED?

    Wondering if this is some kind of error. I know there were many in this year. Thank you guys!

    I'm inclined to think that some sort of chemical reaction eroded a good part of the clad layers. Note that there is a silvery color on the bust and the mintmark and last two digits of the date are rather thin.

    AKA .. Environmental Damage :yack:
    I have noticed that the yellowish baseball field dirt usually give quarters that reddish color. Also the sand from certain beaches.
