1987 D mint mark penny error coin?

    Has anyone ever seen or heard of a crooked D mint mark on the 87 penny I believe I found one I will post a few pictures with this.

    Welcome to CT. You will find a lot of coins with the mint mark crooked. Nothing worth saving.

    @Gunshotrob Prior to 1990 or 1991, the mint marks were hand punched into the dies. Therefore you are likely to see all sorts of variations as to placement of mint marks. Some have minor tilts others more extreme. All depended upon the eyesight of the tech who was punching them at the time. I've seen many 1977 D with the mm nearly tipped over to the southeast.

    Buy some books about US coins in general or even specific books about Cents, or quarters, etc. Even go to highly detailed websites about specific coins and errors.

    but do *not* go to most YouTube videos and very general clickbait websites for information/ research.
