1986 d quarter error

Seeking knowledge from my respected enthusiasts; I am not going to attempt the vocabulary. There seems to be an erroneous amount of “quarter material” conglomerating on the esophageal region of Mr. Washington.

Esophageal, you can die from just reading the word. Your neck swells up and explodes.

 

I think your coin has been exposed to excessive heat and that has caused the bubble on the obverse.

 

The coin does look like it's been in a fire, with soot still in all of the crevices.

 

PMD, for a quarter, I'd hang on to it as an oddity.

It is damage but still an interesting quarter.

 

Definitely has been exposed to intense heat.

 

Just because a coin looks different, strange or weird doesn't automatically make it a mint error. There are many different ways it could become damaged or altered post mint
