Hi everyone. this is my first thread as I'm new to the coin collecting community. I recently found this 1985 P dime that has what appears to be clad errors. It is a dark copper color on both sides all except for the hair area on his head. As you can see its very neat because it almost gives the appearance of his brain showing in his head. Can somebody please tell me if this has any value? Thanks!!
Worth - 10 Cents As stated it's ED - Environmental Damage I metal Detect and I have found hundreds of Dimes such as yours. Sand, soil, dirt, water, chemicals and the weather can change the Clad layer of coins. Here are examples that I have found -
There is a Mint Error known as Missing Clad layer.. But this error usually occurs just on one side of the clad coin. From my collection -
What i dont understand is that there appers to be alot of 1985 d that apper this way whys thatand your examples appear to be pited spots on each one the ones ive seen on 85 d dont
What you need to do is start a new separate thread. Pictures are a must. If you know nothing about true mint errors then keep this in mind.. Not everything that looks weird, strange or different is automatically an error. First find out what it could be. I'm interesting and serious Mr. Ed - Specializing in collecting and studying mint errors since 1986.
I had a 1987 found it yesterday and I’m in the process of looking for it now cuz idk where I put it wich is a big vibe killer cuz idk if it’s worth anything but I got a pic for proof
