Thought I would share this with the group. Most severe die clash I have in my collection to date. The clashing made it all the way down into Lincoln's neck. It is also a doubled die clash. and clashed on the obverse and the reverse. Post some cool die clashes. Terry
1983 Here's the only one I've found so far in Bank Rolls. Not quite as intense as yours but it does have some similarities. The marks below the steps on the reverse are like your '84.
Shoewrecky, Found it in a small tool box full of to my recollection had 1398 Lincoln Cents in it. That someone just did not want to mess with taking apart and rolling up. Found a few very cool coins in it. Thanks Jello Prospector, Very Cool Here is a picture of the tool box of Lincoln's Terry
Well this is more of a double strike then a die clash, but it's still cool and I like to show it off I believe we determined this to be a "double struck in collar" error with a "misalligned obverse die" with the help of some folks on here (Thanks Frank). Thanks! J
Very strong die clash there Stewart! NICE! It's one of the stronger examples I've seen. I've been looking to find one of these in my searching many years....still haven't found one. The list of other rare coins I've found is pretty long, such at an MS-65 1999 WAM....but no strong die clash! ARRRRGGGG I'm going to end-up having to buy one. I'm about ready to give up.
That is the way I bought all those coins. I can not take credit for the idea but I sure do like it. A couple of those little canisters for keeping moisture out and good to go. Terry
Thad, I am on the opposite side of that coin. I have yet to find a single WAM Don't give up the clashes are out there. Besides the ones clashed this hard can get quite expensive same as the 99 WAM I would rather find one. I know one will come when I least expect it. Terry
I second that! WAY cool JJK78!!!! Stewart, thats a very cool example you have also.....and thats alot of Lincolns in that box!!! What other little treasures have you found in that box (or, perhaps, ones you haven't discovered yet???)...I imagine that it would take a bit of time to go through each coin in that box
Welcome to the forum Sgtd68! I would wait a day or so until the forum gets the links with photobucket back on line. You will notice that most of the photo urls above are inactive due to a problem with viruses. Maybe you noticed a thread on it. ANyway, if you are curious, there are several posts on how to put up a photo either from your computer direct or via a service like Photobucket, which was very good until this problem. Jim
Is anyone still on this site? I have a very mysterious penny and am highly interested in knowing about it! Thank you!
@Rayjen- may I suggest you post your "mysterious penny" in its own thread, with pictures, instead of resurrecting a seven-year-old thread that probably doesn't have anything to do with your coin?
