99.99% chance it isn't. What does it weigh?

You need to weigh these to know for sure, we can't tell from a picture.

Your best bet to tell if this is a true 95% copper cent would be to weigh it. A pre-zinc cent will weigh 3.11 grams, versus a copper coated zinc cent @ 2.5 grams.

1983 Cents were minted on Copper Plated Zinc Cents. So it not a Copper Cent.

BTW, can you tell if this is gold or gold plated?

Well I suppose I better go through the Penny's I went through and dig out all the 82 d small dates and 93s and order a scale. I figured it was good enough because anything older than 82 rang and nothing over 83 did. But I can say for sure I don't want to take either of them coins back to the bank for .01$

But didn't a 1983 bronze sell not long ago same auction as 1982 d smalldate bronze. I read heritage auction I thought it sold for 17,000.

I think you are literally more likely to win the lottery,
than to discover a zinc date cent that was minted on copper.
    Go You Tube! Yay!
I firmly believe another one will be discovered. There are a number of 1983, 1989, and some other dates. I weigh my 1983's, but I don't think I'm going to find one. It's always someone else when the odds are astronomical.
