Okay, so I am new here and very new to the coin collecting/error coin 'world' in general.. so any information and/or help is great appreciated, so thank you in advance!...

I found this 1982 Washington quarter and was wondering..
    1) Is this a mint error or post minting damage? (If so what type of error?)
    2) Is there any value in this coin? 20170514_144217.jpg

I will say it's PMD. A good indicator is metal pushed over the design elements,
and flat design elements. If you don't mine a bit of a read here is a good website
with some great info on error coins.http://www.error-ref.com/

As stated PMD. Maybe squeezed in plyers or a vice.

Please don't damn yourself. If you read the responses given we explained that it is damaged. Not a Mint Error of any kind.

"Usually" Mint errors on coins are those things that can only be accomplished within the mint during the minting process(s).

The coin in question was damaged by a variety of ways (caught in machinery or stuck in a vise and the edges pounded with a hammer, etc, etc. etc.).

How I look at it is, if I come across a coin with damage to it, if that damage can easily be duplicated, chances are, it's not a mint error at all. That's what conclusion I would have come to had I came across the quarter in question.
