Well, I finally found one after several years of looking! It has some wear and is a bit dirty. I believe it is the “Strong Strike” judging by how clear the number 2 is. Going in the Dansco!
Sort of. I have an agreement with the local thrift store to collect all their cash register change. I search and count the coins and write them a check for face value. I used to give them a 10% premium, but after a year of this we settled on FV as the finds are very infrequent. Then I dump the searched coins at my bank which has a coin machine. I find a few hole fillers for my albums, a few wheats, and the very very rare silver dime. And the thrift store doesn't have to hassle with the change. So, it's a win-win.
Nice find! Yes yours is a late strong strike as evidenced by the die crack at 1 o’clock. I have found 3 so far.
Thanks Heavymetal. I did not even notice the obverse die crack, and I found it interesting that it was discussed in the PCGS article that @CoinCorgi cited. It's pretty impressive that you have found 3 of these.
I have never looked for this one. Dimes are too small for me. I have a hard time even edge checking them.
