1981 penny weights 2.5 grams o think it is zinc penny is that possible or could it be on a wrong plachet of some kind.....is there any premium value if is was a 1981 zinc penny View attachment 1390109 View attachment 1390109 View attachment 1390109 View attachment 1390109
I had pictures of it but they didn't show I post them again.... And on the reverse it got some blister plating on it that what made me think it was zinc.....
It look normal to me to it just weights 2.53 grams... But that would be a big weight difference between 2.53 and copper 3.0
Assuming your scale is reading accurately, it could be struck on a planchet that was punched from a strip that was rolled too thin. Yours doesn't seem to have any striking weakness (see the pic in the link), but occasionally that happens. Take it to a coin shop or jeweler and have them confirm the weight. https://www.error-ref.com/rolled-thin-planchets/ FYI, The specs for a copper Lincoln is 3.11 +/- 0.13 grams, not 3.0
