Of course the first proof coin i find is going to be flawed. Question is what caused these stains? I'm thinking it may have happened at the mint as it is on opposite sides and opposite ends of the coin and seems embedded into the coin. is this a cousin of "milk spots" or something else?

I haven't the slightest idea. It will be interesting to learn what others might have to say.
