I don't see any doubling, just some post mint dings. value 1 cent

I agree with Ziggy, there is no doubling.
This coloring is normal, and doesn't demand premiums.
Face and Retail Value: 1 Cent

Ya, thats why I said I'm not sure if it has doubling, and posted as good as I could get them pix, so the masters of the universe here could tell me what they see. Well, point me to the nearest gumball machine then, lol:eek:dd:

When reffering to colors of a Cent Red does not mean that is actually red. Look at the following picture for a better explanation -
    bronze.jpg

Copper Lincoln pennies arranged by darkening shades of red to brown.

By the way.. This thread you posted in is from 2009. It would be better to start your own unique thread with pictures.

    image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hello

I have been checking my coins to see if any of them need grading or the go in the piggy bank I came across these too and I’m not sure if they are mint errors or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thank you

This is a 1982 Lincoln cent it looks like it’s on silver or maybe it’s cracking idk
The second one is a 1968 Lincoln cent I think there is double on the 8. What do you think?

    Thanks again image.jpg

There's no point spending a lot of money grading coins that are worth .01 one cent. The 2nd coin is damaged. The 1st coin, I can't tell may have been plated, or coated with something else.

Do you think the playing or coating was or is a mint error or just someone playing with coins lol. Thank you for your help

It can't be a mint error, because they don't do that at the mint, even by accident.
IDK if it is a coating or plating. Perhaps better photos. But either way, damaged or not, it's still 1 cent.

82 was the last year of copper, it shouldn't look like that, get it graded

WRONG!.. That is environmental damage.. Do not send it to get graded nor attributed!

The 82 is a transitional error.it is zinc when it should have been copper.I have several.

1982 was a transitional YEAR. The copper cent was still produced for much of the year. Towards the end of the year the thin copper coated, zinc core coins took their place.
Weighing them will sort out which is which
    COPPER 3.11g
    Zinc 2.5g

I'm guessing the graders at the TPGs must be amused by some of the face value coins that people want put in plastic. I've seen
coins worth $1 (or less) put in $30 slabs in the marketplace. The friendly folks here at CT I'm sure have saved people a lot of money with their advice.

LOL, yeah, it makes me wonder sometimes when they receive submissions, open the box and see what's inside, what head scratchers they must see in there occasionally, and then say "well they paid for it, slab it!".

"but but but it's another 1975 P Roosevelt dime, submitted as "no S' !"
"Just give the customer what they want!, Slab it!"
"if you say so boss, One VF35 1975 P Rosie coming up!"

My seven year old grandson loves coins and he thinks slabbed coins are very cool. After all, grandad (me) studies his slabbed coins all the time..... So when I go to coin shows I hunt down these oddly slabbed modern coins. I can usually get 4-5 of them for ten bucks. I bring them back to the boy and he is on cloud nine.... Of course when he gets older I bet I will have a day of reckoning with him!
