ive had this in my coin collection for around 10 years and just noticed that "e pluribus unum" on the reverse looks like it is doubled. cant really say for sure myself so any info would be great!
Machine Doubling, in general, does not add any value, but if there is a large enough spread, it may add a small premium.
sure it can but those are the type of people that dont know the difference between an actual DD and MD. Honestly, I would feel bad for those who are buying MD coins thinking that they are a doubled die and will have value or buy them at a higher price only to find out its not worth anything. I dont know of anyone who will pay extra money for it (that just me from what I have seen from collecting). Here are a couple sites that state it's damage not errors http://coins.about.com/od/coinsglossary/g/mechanical_doub.htm http://www.bakercoins.net/learn/variety/mech/index.html http://doubleddie.com/144822.html
Thanks for the links shoewrecky! I'm just now getting into error coins and those were really helpful. Thanks for the input guys
np, if you like those then you should use www.coppercoins.com, www.lincolncentresource.com and I am sure there are more that I have but can't think of any atm..will try later after work
