hello everyone. Today I think was a gift from God. I was doing a good friend a favor and replacing some paneling and out come a 1969 s mint penny that appears to be a doubled die. when I looked at the reverse side I realized that it was rotated quite a bit can anyone tell m on this coinl maybe on this going
Does it look like this Or this If it looks like this first you have a Doubled Die. If it looks like the second coin you have Machine Doubling worth anything. Notice that the real doubled die has the doubling raised up and the second one, the machine doubling, flat.
yes I can post pictures but at the time I'm headed to a gun show to pick up $10 worth of original bankrolled wheat pennies. in the meantime can you tell me why sorry if there is a known example of a rotation in the dies. because is rotated several degrees not just a minor rotation but actually pretty extreme for what I have seen out of all the coins I have looked at
CFRI can't really tell much about that the doubling because of the condition of the coin but the reverse accused me doubled more than the obvwrse
Haha just wait til you get to a place that you can take pictures and post them. It will be better for everyone
Lol, Lucky that the text is coming out right. I have had bad luck using text-to-speech. Have fun at the show and good luck!
If you meet someone at the gun show who knows about coins show it to them and see what they have to say.
The doubling on the 1969-s is very strong, and strongest around the rim. There are a number of die markers on the reverse that can be used to be sure you have the big one. I've seen a 69-s ddo up close, and it is unmistakable. The 69-s ddo that I discovered was graded xf-45 and sold by heritage. They are out there to be found. On the other hand, machine doubling is a big problem on the 69-s and can be confused with die doubling. Even some examples of the ddo show machine doubling.
Ok guys, I showed the coin to a collector of over fifty years and he said yes it was a dd variety. It has been under the sheetrock of a home for no telling how long. It also isn't in the greatest shape, but here's some piks. Take in consideration I haven't got good photo equipment. Im also loading 3 additional ones. 1969 that is and two others Im curious about. I bought severeal roles of 1973d because they were all $ rolls. both ends were on tails. So remember the 1973 is in mint condition. Also with the 1969s I oriented the piks so u can get an idea of how much rotation there is. I already know what some of u are going to say about the main coin in question so keep the criticism to yourselfs. Everone have a great day. Ill check back asap gone back to work. No rest for the weary,I keep a side job going all the time so I can keep my pennys' that everyone around here thinks I'm crazy for collecting. LOL I'll be the one laughing soon enough!
The 69 in 1969 in the first couple images look like they've been flattened to me. I don't know how you guys get into these...it would hurt my eyes
Wait a minute. You ask us for our thoughts and opinions then you tell us to keep the criticism to ourselves? Goodbye.. good luck with your Cent. Sorry not a DDO!
I guess I don't understand. You want us to lie to you and tell you it's a 69 DDO? Can't do that. There are no signs of doubling on that coin. You will get the truth here even if you don't want it. Did you even bother looking at the images posted above of the real 69 DDO?
