Copper core, yes. Where do you see 'copper' other than the edge/core? It's a damaged coin. Surfaces are what we call 'enviornmentally damaged'
I assume that you are suggesting that this quarter may be missing one or both clad layers. It isn't! If it were missing a clad layer, the high points of the devices would not have a silvery color to them. Here is a coin missing a clad layer. Right @Cheech9712 ?
Any ideas what might of happen to this one its not i can I dont think its deteriorated because it has the same weight. I don't believe the clads are missing either that would mean they would weigh less as well
Not a black beauty.. That's when a Planchet is improperly Annealed. That's not what you have.. Your quarter is Environmental Damage to the Clad. Clad is made up of Cupro-Nickel. When exposed to dirt, soil, sand, water any elements the Copper will tone a darker color. Your quarter is not a mint error of any kind Here are examples from my metal detected clad -
Are we still doing this? Etsy says it's very rare and very special, it's specialness only exceeded by its raritiness, sellers have it worth between $10K and $50K. get yo money!
