I was wondering if anyone could help me , I was curious if the reverse side of this coin is an error or wear. The reverse side is extremely smooth making me think possible error .
That's just wear. Also known as PMD (Post Mint Damage). Around here we call it Def Dam (Definite Damage). You can still see part of the Lincoln Memorial in the center. Take a penny and lay it down on a concrete sidewalk, put your foot (shoe) on it and scuff it back and forth. Do that long enough and you will have made another one just like the other one. BTW, Welcome to Coin Talk !! , the Best Little Coin Site on the Internet, where no coin is too ugly to get an opinion of it's ugliness. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or post photos. We love helping out.
Thank you ... One more question if you don't mind if so I'll create another post if need be. Is this doubling a doubled die or machine doubling or I found it on a 1979-D Lincoln Cent but didn't find anything to compare it to???
Here's a link to help you out. I think that's just machine doubling. Study the link and you'll be able to learn more. Wexler's Coins and Die Varieties Read about "Worthless Doubling".
I just noticed something...I had been so focused on the reverse that I missed this. Does anyone else see that line running from above Abe's ear down to just below his collar? on the 1966? Is that just a black hair on the coin or is that a lamination error or maybe a die crack? @paddyman98
