I'm not kidding this is the color of the coin. I took the pictures at an angle to (try) and capture the colors. I think it was stored with some sort of sulphuric material. I do keep this coin in a sealed holder to avoid cross contamination.

Ben,the condition of this coin is terrible, but I like the design of the 'Totem Pole Dollar',as this piece is also commonly known as.

The design was very unpopular with the Native Canadians in British Coloumbia, because the raven (at the top of the totem pole) is a symbol that represents death.

Willie, the raven is located in what looks like the eyebrows at the top of the totem pole.

So how does that work? The raven is kind of hidden in the eyebrows? I don't get what that means?

It doesn't really mean anything. Adian's comment about the popularity of the coin was accurate, the coin was not well liked because of the design. The design was copied from an Indian totem pole and on the totem pole was carved a raven, which to the Indians was the symbol of death - thus the name of the coin.

That's about all there is to it.

That's a pretty good story behind the coin. I'll have to get one. I have a number of canadian silver dollars, but not this particular design although I've seen them around.

Canadian coins in general are fairly inexpensive compared to their US counterparts even though many of the mintage numbers are quite low.

I had the chance to buy one of these and regret not doing so now.

I was too picky, one little fingerprint and I put it back....was only a few $ aswell.
