I have this 1957 Silver Certificate serial A 001xxxx..... A. There were about 1,7 billion of those made, does that mean that mine was one of the first 100k made out of 1,7 billion?

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

Is the serial number a state secret?

It's completely fine to post serial numbers.

Since you have prefix A and suffix A, then it is one of the first printed for that series.

No secret, just didn't think the other digits after 001 were important.

This is the note, what do you think? I like it but don't collect notes, is it worth selling? Would not like to list, package, drive, wait in line just so that I can get a dollar or two for it. low.jpg

Good one for pocket poker play.0 wild, 9 high, and 1111.

Nice. The print runs at the time were 640,000 notes, so your note is from the first run of 1957 $1's. I don't think that's going to make it worth a *huge* premium to anyone, but it might be a nice selling point.

It looks like the face plate number (at lower right) is 1. Is the plate number on the back of the note also 1? If it's got 1/1 plates, that's another nice selling point: first face plate, first back plate, first print run....

It has written "F1" lower right, is that the face plate number? This is the back, it has indeed a 1 back.jpg

Very nice! A 1/1 face & back plate combination is more valuable. You're not going to retire off of it, but it might bump the premium some if you use it as a selling point.
