Not sure this is in the right forum. Moderators please move if necessary. New to collecting Canadian Cents and really know nothing about them. Anyways, I was looking through pile of Canadian Cents tonight and this was the only 1949 in the pile. The 2nd A in Gratia on obverse looks to be lined up with the denticle like the website pictures show. It does look different from the 1949's I have in my books as well. Link with Variety Pictures. http://coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php?coin=1-cent-1949&years=1-cent-1937-1952 Is it what I think it is? Just looking for a confirmation on this. What do you think? Thanks...Mont.
Thank you that's what I wanted the confirmation on. According to Coins and Canada this is a pretty desirable variety for this year. Was this a transitional year where they changed the obverse? Is that how this variety happened?
Here's what the normal one looks like . Here's what the variety looks like Here's the OP and it looks normal too me
@Rick Stachowski. If you look again The normal A for this year is A OFF the denticle the rare one for this year is the A to denticle. This one matches the A to Denticle Picture for the 1949 Cents.
I found this article on another post here on CT. This one goes more into depth on this variety. http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/Canada1948and19481cVarieties.htm Hope this helps
