I just found three 1946 Jefferson nickels with no mint mark then I went to eBay and people are selling them for $1,200 I don't understand
1946 5 cent piece with no mint mark? Philly coin. Red Book shows a mintage of 161,116,000 no mint mark coins for that year. Are ya feelin' lucky?
They're normal, all Philadelphia Jefferson Nickels 1938-1967 have no "P" except War Nickels. The ones on eBay you're seeing priced $1200 are probably uninformed sellers or someone trying to make a quick buck by selling to the ignorant.
There are a lot of coins on eBay for absolutely ridiculous prices. The site is sadly loaded with junk. Look at what sold, not at what people are selling. For example: I had a cookie jar I wanted to sell at a yard sale. On eBay, I saw prices from $70 to $200. I looked at what sold and saw $20-$30. What did I do? I put a $10 sticker on it.
I pine for the good old days when there were only a few scammers on eBay. Nowadays there's so many I start going through the listings and just give up.
WWW.Usacoinbook.com has a good listing of coins as eBay and very easy access to information and pricing. Few scammers as too many coin people with eyes.
Sounds like a troll post. I'm searching eBay for 1946 nickels and all sold are around $4-5 for BU. If that.
CoinFacts with the PCGS price guide shows $1200 for MS66+ Full Steps and $6000 for MS67 Full Steps. Without Full Steps the price drop is significant. MS66+ is $110 and MS67 is $600.
