I saw this seller's OTHER post for a copper 43 wheat. You can clearly see that it is not authentic by the pictures and the fact that he had two listed at once. The first one already sold for $280, now this one is pushed up to $481 in the bids. He uses the same pictures in both auctions and lists it as a "novelty", obviously knowing they are not authentic. Appears to be a cast coin by looking at the lettering and the rim. What do you say? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-X-USA-Cop...60?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item416cb9d248 Original ad here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-X-USA-Cop...=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
wow people are truly stupid. i mean he clearly states it is a novelty even though it is not stamped anywhere on the coin.
as being a seller on ebay for a very long time most people don't read. i get questions all the time that could just be answered by reading the whole auction.
I sent a report to eBay on it being a counterfeit. It was gone with 20 minutes of my reporting it. Not sure, but the other one that sold for $280.56 eBay may cancel that transaction, as I reported that one as well.
" Look to all pictures , they worth a 1000 words " I can't come up with anywhere close to 1000 words but my list starts off with fake plated scam deception thief rip-off slimeball
Yep... even though this "coin" was listed as a "novelty", it still fits into eBay's "no-no" category regarding replicas. Maybe the seller should try listing it as a fantasy coin, which is perfectly legal and acceptable.
DC wouldn't produce a coin like that, he does fantasy coins, not counterfeit coin. I still want one of his 64-D Peace dollars.
i saw one walk into one of my local coin stores but the store and coin owner couldnt come to an agreement.
Of course, that has been addressed many times in the past here on CT. There are many members who will never be convinced his overstrikes are not counterfeits. However, I agree with your assessment, and the 64-D is one of his pricier items (and readily available on eBay). As far as the the coin originally linked by the OP, (which was listed in the "novelty coins" category), well, I tried to locate eBay's definition (not the generally accepted definition, as these often don't match) of "novelty coin" and "fantasy coin", with no luck. Maybe someone has a listing of what is and isn't allowed in these categories.
BTW, I reported the "original ad". It is now gone also. They will pull past listings for counterfeit coins.
