Absolutely! When I was a teenager, I would sell some dupes at the LCS to get better coins. When I saw the owner toss them into a "melt bucket", I was horrified! I bought them back like I was rescuing lambs from the slaughterhouse.
Common date with lots of wear and tear.Yes mercury dimes are %90 silver and in that condition melt or mabey a bit more, within the $2-$3 range.
You’ve got to be joking. Only about $2 of silver in them so that’s what they’re priced around here, maybe a quarter more.
They should actually be called.. Winged Liberty Head Dimes. 1941 S Value?.. Yours is not MS - Mint State
Just get yourself a Red Book...a guide...or go online to one of the many price-guides and take a look.
I have set my goal to complete a collection of all of the Winged Liberty Silver Dime. I but what ever quality one of the dimes are just to fill a hole and when I find a better one, I replace the old one. I just finished filling the holes of the silver FDR Dimes. They were priced between $4 - $10. Some charge a lot for shipping, raising the total cost for some coins to about $15.

To answer your question, my opinion is YES, they are worth much more than face value or silver melt. The beauty and history of that dime is priceless. I guess you can tell I'm a fan of the design. LOL Brings back a lot of memories as they were common when I was growing up. I keep everyone I can.
