Do you mean like the second post in this thread http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=34615 (off center) or part of the metal is missing like this one http://sterlingantiquesilver.com/ebay/nodatenick0223.jpg (clipped planchet)?
OK, Can you post a pic? It could be a legit error or it could be something else. Pictures are almost necessary to determine whether or not its a real error. By the way, ignore my poor manners for not saying it earlier, Welcome to Cointalk.
dont have any way to post pics gettin a new computer this year with a scanner this time sorry as soon as i find a way to post a pic i will the coin is not in good condition looks like it was well circulated i have had it for about thirty years my father gave it to me when i was younger
That reminds me, Don't Clean It! Cleaning is likely to decrease the value of it. Well, with no way for us to see the coin, you will have to determine its authenticity for yourself. From another thread ( http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=22990 ) "Look for these signs of authenticity: 1) a weakness of the rim at the pole opposite the clip (Blakesly Effect); 2) metal flow in the design elements bordering the clip; 3) a fadeout and taper of the rim as it approaches the clip; 4) a cut-and-tear texture on the edge of the clip." Also, compare what you see on your coin to some of the pix here on cointalk. Such as the one in this thread http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=31750
Here's what I was looking for and couldn't find http://www.collectors-society.com/news/ViewArticle.aspx?IDArticle=312 An article on how to tell if it is or isn't.
