    Are you crazy? I wouldn't put any coin in my mouth. Now, what is it that makes this coin so unusual, because your poll is pretty much meaningless.

    We
    Well the last digit looks like a Y with the bottom of the Y facing to the right. I know a few collectors of military collections and a few that have coins and I've done some research and no one has anything close I've had this coin for years but found it with a few zinc and a few Indian head penny I thought it looked like a triangle but a friend took a closer look and said you better get this checked out. Thank

    Simple.. It took a hit. The last numeral is damaged.
    Not a Mint Error and only worth 1 Cent

    Well I am new at this and I do apologize for the bad picture but if needed I can send a better clearer picture. When I saw it I was like no its smudged then looking at it closer with a magnifier it is definitely a Capital Y with the bottom facing to the left. I've looked at a bunch of collections my father has had from the civil war 1st 2nd my father has had me check a lot of metals and we have looked at a lot of fakes so I'm just trying to get to the dirt on this one. Thank you

    2018 - 1927 = 91 years of circulation wear and tear will eliminate any "blemish" as you call it

    Well IMO your coin has to took a hit and moved the copper but I to no how easy it is to get excited, but sometimes we have take a step back and take a second look.
    We get narrow minded and tunnel vision and we see things that is no way possible but we create it in our minds.
    It's ok to do that we all have done it but keep in mind we just want to help have and open mind and you will do ok. Lol

    Okay then what is the last digit on the coin I was just guessing you try and take a number and turn it into a Y I thought a 4 and a few more do tell? Paddy I've looked at this coin for a month just to make sure? What would make it perfectly to the edge of the coin?

    Could be any number.. It doesn't really matter. All I know is that it is not a Mint Error
    Here is another excellent website -

    @BobbyV
    Like Paddy said, this damage could have been caused by almost anything. It doesn't take much to move copper around, and there are trillions of pennies floating around in circulation.

    More importantly, though, is the fact that the date is incorporated into the hub from which the working dies are made. If this was a "Y" (laying on it's side, no less!) then there would have to be tens of thousands of such errors floating around in circulation. Why hasn't another one been discovered in the last 92 years? It just didn't happen!!!

    Well sometimes it takes awhile to find a needle in a hay stack? The Y is shaped perfectly it just seems out there believe me I really questioned it more than what you think my job for the last 40 years has been a problem solver and I have run this though the ringer I wasn't going to even post it but a good customer & a coin error enthusiast told me to try cointalk and another he has a 1955 DD HE had showed me a few months back and I've known him 25+ years and he did come back and told me not to get all excited about it so I pit it away and just about forgot about it I am just interested in the facts I am intrigued and just want to see if someone has ever had or has the knowledge my father has collected everything from A to Z and every one I talk to has a excuse but no solid answer I'm just saying what if? Thanks

    Thanks I really don't know or have that much knowledge of the mint or collecting coins yes their should have been thousands but what in only 100 a bad day at the mint a joke I'll look into this site and thank you for your view of it I own a couple business and believe me mistakes happen I'm still waiting for the lottery to mess up on a ticket or a scratch off but none yet in 9 years at this on and 36 at the other. I still want to thank you and all for your help. But I am very stubborn and I'll keep looking and if and when I do I'll let you all know who was right and if I was wrong have a good day
