How much would it likely cost to get this graded? The condition isn't the best but it's still a beautiful coin. I really love the peace dollars BackgroundEraser_20231226_120139105.jpg BackgroundEraser_20230913_201247985.jpg

The 26-S is a better date, but it would still need to be a problem free uncirculated example to be worth grading. Your coin is circulated, damaged (scratched), and looks cleaned as well. This is the kind of coin you would place in an album, not get graded.

As said, the coin really isn't worth slabbing unless it was from family and you want to protect the coin.
If you decide, I would go with ICG or ANACS.
As far as the cost to slab them I would not know.

A nice looking 1926-S Peace Dollar. One of the slightly better dates but in this condition grading would be a waste of money. Best to put in a flip and enjoy.

As others have said, really not a good candidate for professional certification - it probably would come back labeled as a problem coin.

You can buy hard plastic capsules that offer decent protection, Air-tite is a popular brand.

Figure around $40. That's probably over what it's worth.

You didn't state your reason for having it graded, other than you love the look of Peace Dollars.
You can get an MS graded coin for just over $100 on eBay, maybe cheaper at other auction sites. By the time you paid insurance, postage and the grading fee, you would probably be into it for a bit less than $100.
If it has sentimental value, then go ahead and get it graded. ANACs would be the least expensive, I think. Otherwise, self slab it for protection.

I too love Peace Dollars, I'll jump on board with everyone else and say probably not worth the cost to send it in unless you're ok with it being a net loss. I'd go ahead and self slab it and enjoy.
