    Hi guys,

I am new to coin collecting. Would like to find out why the toning on the reverse of this coin is different? Is this a Woody penny with an improper alloy mix? 1926 Penny Obverse1.jpg 1926 Penny Reverse1c.jpg 1926 Lincoln Wheat Penny Reverse3.jpg

It is! Woodies are not very recognized as woodies, so you'll probably be able to sell that coin for $2-4. I love woodies, especially when graded MS!

Thank you very much. After researching about woody pennies, I was really curious if my penny was in fact, one of these. I am very happy to hear this! I like the way these coins look also!

It looks like a woodie but the photo is very dark.

Welcome to CT @Rosalita. The difference in toning may be because it was in an album and the reverse was protected. As for it being a woody, better photos would help, but yes, they are common in the early years and NAV (no added value) in my opinion. I have numerous cents and nickels that are improper mixes.
