I'm far from an expert but what raised my suspicion is the small blob of raised metal below the L in pluribus.
If you ask me, it appears to be a cast counterfeit based on what you've already noted. Edit: I'm going to assume that you acquired this coin along with the fake 1902-S Morgan you posted earlier today?
My instinct too. However can't you spot cast coins by the edge? Maybe the crooks Reed them last in the process.
Yikes, look at the bloated letters in UNITED; the metal blob on the rev was a nice pickup, and enlarged you can see many smaller ones. Bad!!
Yes. They came from a large hoard of silver dollars a friend inherited who knows nothing about coins and asked me to grade and value for him. All of the key and semi keys are bogus. The ones that are genuine are common. It has been a valuable lesson for me to learn more about fakes but for him, not so much. Thanks to the kind members here at coin talk I'm learning a lot.
try weight too even though not ALWAYS helpful but can't hurt to check it. correct weight is 26.73 grams.
IMO, the relieved gas pockets(holes) and pressure pimples(non-relieved gas pockets) indicate cast coin.
