Been working on a display of my 1908-S Indian Head Cent grading set. In February, I had BluCC photos image my entire set and I've been very happy with the quality of the images. In the past few weeks I've been slowly uploading them to my set in the Registry. I've also been working on copying the images into a poster that'll display all of the coins. I'm pretty slow with photoshop and my computer seems to come to a crawl when I have photoshop and a bunch of large photos opened simultaneously.

Anyways, my plan is to have them all displayed in a single image that I can later turn into a 24" x 36" poster that I can hang in my office. At that size, the obverse and reverse of each of the 32 coins in my set will be approximately 2.5" in diameter each (750x750 pixels) when printed which I think will show enough detail to be worthwhile.

I figured now that I have edited in all of the circulated grades into my template it would be a good time to share my progress. The file so far in photoshop is around 125MB and ends up being around 4MB when converted to a JPG file. But here's a smaller version that has been reduced further by photoshops size limits:

Ultimately, I'm thinking about laying out the final product which will include the circulated grades, the uncirculated grades and a bunch of "genuine" holdered examples like this:

I may also add some additional text underneath the heading at the top with some history and/or stats about the 1908-S Indian Head Cent. But it's all still a work in progress. That said, since nothing is really finalized in this project and since I'm sure it'll take me a couple more weeks to finish it, I welcome any comments you may have. Thanks for looking! :thumb:

    Very cool illini!

I think your P-shop file is going to give your computer cardiac arrest though with that many high res image files. You need to try a layout program like InDesign or Quark that can manage that many large images at one time.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I appreciate it. When it's ready I hope that I'm able to print up multiple copies cost effectively for those of you who have already requested a copy and for others that might want one. The problem is that printing a poster size like that doesn't really become cheap on a per print basis until you get up to about 500 copies (then it's about $1.50 per print vs. $5+ per print at 100 copies). Not sure that many people would want one anyways.

Yeah krispy, it's already at about that point since I'm working on a 5+ year old laptop. I'll probably have to finish the project on my work computer sometime since that's a new desktop with 6GB RAM I think.

You might look into online print services or those located in Canada where a lot of printing is typically outsourced to from the US, obviously, if you haven't looked already ;) Here's a few I like for different things:
    psprint
    qoop
    blurb (books)
    moo (small scale)

Illini.. Count me as wanting one.. If the price isnt bad I could see me buying several and giving them away as gifts at our local coin club.

    GREAT JOB!!

Thanks for the links krispy, will check them out.

Here were the folks I was thinking about. Seems cheaper than most, but you have to order in bulk:

I've received their sample pack and it looks like good quality.

Actually is was very very easy for me to get such great pictures of my coins....

I paid BluCC photos to do it for me :D

Todd was set up to take photos at the last Long Beach show and I dropped them all of on Friday afternoon and was able to pick them up Saturday morning. Worked out very well I think.
